When I moved to Virginia 10 months ago I did not know one single person. I did not know anything about Virginia either, yet I decided I was at the right time of my life to start my own business. I began investigating network opportunities and immediately joined the Chesterfield Chamber of Commerce.

Not really knowing too much about the Chamber, I attended the orientation meeting where I was assigned an Ambassador (Bobby Young), who quickly took me under his wing and began inviting me to other networking events. I quickly learned that Richmond was a handshake community, and I knew I had to get out and shake some hands!

Six months after joining I was named member of the month and I look forward to more involvement.

From there, I began attending the women’s business council and also checked out some more of the various committees. When the opportunity to join the gala planning committee came up, I felt that would be a great niche for me since I had planned several events in the past. Planning the gala has not only been a great thing for me personally, but I have had the opportunity to meet several great business leaders in the community!

Six months after joining I was named member of the month and I look forward to more involvement.
If you have a new business or are new to Chesterfield County, I encourage you to join the Chamber and get involved!
