I am Terri Kapton, owner of Woodlake Bookkeeping Services. My bookkeeping experience goes back more than 10 years when I worked for a large church in the Chicago metropolitan area where I oversaw the business operations of the church which included building maintenance, accounts payable and receivable, bank and credit card reconciliation as well as payroll. I was also in charge of organizing the many events the church held. I worked for a HVAC company doing the aforementioned duties and also 401k administration, health care administration, and inventory control. Prior to working for the church, I was in the auto industry for 10 years as a finance manager.

My husband and I moved to Virginia from the Chicago suburbs in 2016 and I seized the opportunity to take something I enjoy and am good at and make it my own. I started Woodlake Bookkeeping on my own, with one client. I have quickly grown a team of employees, and together, we work diligently to cater to our 40+ clients’ unique needs.

In my free time, I enjoy kayaking, fishing, and exploring the beautiful surroundings Virginia has to offer. I have two adult daughters, my eldest lives in California, and my youngest moved to Virginia in 2019. Both are happily married and successful, I couldn’t ask for more! We welcomed our first grandchild in 2023, and he has brought more joy to our lives than I ever could have imagined. We also have three crazy Jack Russell’s; Maverick, Charlie, and Goose who keep us on our toes.

My organizational skills help me to be efficient and very detail oriented. I am a great communicator and very approachable.
